Late Breaking News!

Hardeeville Officer under investigation for criminal activities while on duty.

A Hardeeville officer has been under investigation for criminal activities while on the job. This officer is facing serious consequences if convicted and witnesses have come forward and provided statements causing a full scale investigation to be launched by more than one agency.

This site will not report any more specifics until it is appropriate. Keep in mind what I have stated previously...I will not release any information that will hinder any ongoing investigations.

The investigation is taking longer than anticipated due to efforts by the City to keep it quiet but now that I have printed these facts, swift action should follow.

Stay tuned for further as it develops.

If I had to guess I would say it's the cpl. I saw his badge and gun on Dan's desk.

Doesn't matter who it is. What matters is the question of whether there will be charges filed or will the city simply allow whoever it is to resign quietly so as not to tarnish the good hardeeville name any further.

What do YOU think they will do? Once he's gone, they'll wash their hands of it and think the responsibility ends there...

Doesn't matter who it is. If there's something to prosecute, it should be prosecuted. The least thing to be done is to take disciplinary action. Why not just wait this one out before jumping to a conclusion? I'd like to see what the investigation is for and the end results.

My guess is that this will not be prosecuted. From what I understand there's more than enough information to go forward with multiple victims but hardeeville will more than likely do nothing and this officer will be free to seek employment at another agency where the victimization can continue.

I guess you're right. They let other employees resign despite the evidence of theft and other illegal activities perpetrated by those so-called officers..

So what was the outcome of this stuff? Anybody know what the investigation was about?

I'm guessing by now that you realize that the officer in question has already been let go/fired/resigned/suspended, whatever.

This 'investigation' has been going on for quite some time, and I mean the pre-Dan era, so why so secretive about it?

Obviously nothing is going to happen to him. He's obviously not going to get the 'shaft'...

What difference does it make? You're not hindering any investigation, you're not preventing the due course of law...

Anyone can see that magnified image above the chief and Rhonda's head, so why not just come out with what you say you know?

I know what I've been told, I don't care for it. I'm not going to spout off about the allegations because I don't KNOW. I'm not saying I don't believe there's some truth to it, I'm just saying I don't like it and it's very disappointing to me.

At one time I did not care for the guy, then I saw something in him that told me that he was alright. Now this? I just don't like to be that wrong about a guy.

Ante up.

hardeeville, have you taken a REAL good look around?im almost positive if you got your heads out of your asses you would realize that you need police officers to keep those trashy prostitutes& strung out crackheads off your streets.oh,what-you didnt notice?imagine that!its better this way. your loss is bluffton and jasper countys gain,by far

Well, Tony, you can read and you should read that last entry AGAIN.

It makes no difference to me whether you ever liked or disliked me. I did not like you at first, but then I saw something in you that changed that. Remember the conversation at the Shell station? I didn't pull any punches then and I'm not now.

The floor is yours tony.

Let's hear your side of it.

the officers that hardeeville has run off&that now work for jasper county are much appreciated by many of jasper county citizens. they were all to good to ever be a part of hardeeville & always will be.how will the city of hardeeville grow & thrive when they only seem to be worried about shrinking their police dept.people looking to seek employment for hpd should be warned because eventually they too will be run off.as for tony, keep your head held high.you are & always will be better than hardeeville.better than them anyday.for the ones of us that KNOW HIM WELL&TRUST HIM,there isnt a need to tell your side,so dont! ONLY IGNORANCE WILL BRING YOU DOWN SO DONT YOU LET THEM !

As for people seeking employment there, from what I hear they are only accepting applications from certified officers. Is that some kind of joke? What certified officer in their right mind would apply there? EVERYONE is aware of what's going on in that dump.

Anonymous said...

I believe they actually have gotten a couple of certified applicants, but they were either let go or "asked to leave" their former departments so they're pretty much up for ANY department that will consider them now. More than likely they'll get some new hires from out of state who won't have any idea of the trap they're stepping into until it's too late and they've relocated their entire family to SC. BTW oneofmany, why call hardeeville a "dump"?

It's Janet. Miss Jackson If You're Nasty. said...

Sorry about that. I guess I should've clarified that when I say "dump" I'm referring to the "newly restructured" police department. I certainly meant no disrespect to the citizens if that's what it sounded like. My apologies.

Maybe I'm crazy or just stupid, but I believe that there is a future in Hardeeville when it comes to a career in law enforcement. I didn't believe it before, but I believe it now.

Maybe Dan Martin isn't the man to lead the department, but there's a man coming that should be able to lead that department. Dan Martin hasn't been totally screwed up, remember when there was a decrease in crime: Dan was there. Dan could be considered one of the plank holders of the current HPD. He did train a few officers in his tme.

I'm not saying that I agree with what's going on there or the current situation with Tony (yeah, you TONY!) but come on, let's see what happens next.

Remember, too: This blo wasn't supposed to be about knocking the PD.

Sounds to me like you REALLY want to come back, Bill....

There was a time when I did want to go back, but that time has passed. I can see how you could come to that conclusion but there is nothing further from the truth. I'm happy right where I'm at doing what I'm doing. It's just disappointing to read about the non-sense. I know from my own experience how screwed up the administration can be. I remember a time when the HPD was a good place to be, got lot's of good memories. I also know that sometimes things aren't always what they seem and I hate to think that they are just what they seem to be there.

Phantom said...

Trust me on this Bill...Things at HPD ARE what they seem to be. I, as well as you, remember the not so distant past when it was a good place to work. That's what makes all this so unfortunate, because it changed so quickly and dramatically. You've been gone for a while now, and I assure you that were you to return today, or even a year ago, you would not believe the difference in the work environment, and in some of the people you thought you knew. I remember you telling me about your issues with city hall that you described earlier, and yes, you did "tell us so" at the time, but as far as current events are concerned, you just don't have a clue.

Anonymous said...

All I know is what I've been told and what I read here.
If you were there when I was then I'll take your word for it. It's just what you say: unfortunate.

Wiley Coyote said...

Alot of us were there when you were bill and Phantom is exactly right. You just can't even imagine what it's like there now and you would definitely distance yourself from alot of the two faced people that you thought you knew such as the lieutenant. Your issue with TC when you were there wasn't even a small fraction of what's going on there now. You are actually right about hpd being a nice place to work in the past and I sincerely believe and hope that it will be again. But for that to happen it's absolutely crucial that they get rid of the lieutenant, the mayor, EVERY council member and last, (and very much least), Shane Haynes. Until that time NO officer's job will ever be safe there and none of them can stop looking over their shoulder for even a second.
